DC Teachers are questioning the WTU leadership's failure to…
  • Secure a pay raise for DCPS teachers for SY ’04-05.
  • Conduct a line-item audit of all WTU revenues and spending since the termination of the administratoship.
  • Provide all members with a copy of the last audit report conducted in 2004.
  • Inform WTU members of the unfair labor practices against WTU staff members.
  • Convene Building Representatives, Delegate representatives or WTU membership meetings in accordance with the WTU Constitution.
  • Convene a contract negotiation meeting for more than three months.
  • Provide monthly updates to WTU members on the status of the contract negotiations.
  • Provide status reports to WTU members about the ongoing investigation of the 2005 election of officers by the U. S. Department of Labor.

It’s clear as night and day that WTU’s history of malfeasance is repeating itself. WTU members have decided not to stand by silently and passively and allow it to happen again.

Members are demanding a special call meeting of all WTU members in October to demand straight answers to questions regarding their pay raises, unfair WTU labor practices against Union staff, the status of the teachers’ contract negotiations, and the lack of membership and building representative meetings.
